This week, there has been a whale in the Thames, a piece in New Scientist written by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and a comprehensible comic in the Metro's "This Life".
I think I may have broken through into a parallel universe.

And don't forget the Freeview box that sent out an SOS signal and the parrot that told its owner that his girlfriend was having an affair.
Of course you have!

Science!
*checks* Well, it seems I love you in this universe too.
I can't seem to get the Metro anywhere in Cambridge. Maybe Cambridge thinks it's too classy for the Metro. It's most upsetting. Maybe you should cut bits out and send them to me.
Well, then, clearly this universe has a lot going for it too.
I will endeavour to bring you a couple of copies of the Metro when I come to see you next.
Clearly.
No no no, that won't be as good as cutting bits out and sending them. That way, I get post, and I only get the good bits rather than just having yet another newspaper lying around my room.
(Now I just feel demanding.)
In our universe Mark's girlfriend was called Emily.
I... I don't know who you are.
You mean we're from different universes?
That explains a lot.
Don't look at me like that. You're the one from the crazy universe with whales and decent This Life comics.
Don't look at you like what? Can people see facial expressions from internet posts where you come from?
(I'm posting here mainly because a) I'm desperately trying to procrastinate from the essay I'm failing to do, and b) I'd quite like to see the comments for this post go into double figures because I don't think I've seen that happen before, and I'm easily amused.)
Er... I don't know what your facial expression is. I can't see you. I don't have cameras in your house, honest. Hey! Stop that! Nono, don't look in there! No!
Damn.
Having cameras in my house wouldn't get you far. I live in ugly 60s prison-block blot-on-the-nice-Kingsly-architecture halls at the moment.
Of course, the advantage of living in an ugly building is that you don't have to see as much of it out of the window.
You'd like to think that, wouldn't you? But as you ought to know, the shape of Keynes block is such that it fills three-quarters of the courtyard my room overlooks. In fact, I'm fairly confident I can see more of Keynes than most people who don't live in Keynes. The only nice building I can see isn't even part of King's, it's Cats. Oh well, can't have everything.
