I spent an hour and a half today racking my brains trying to remember the word "manifold". If it hadn't been for the Collins Thesaurus I would definitely have failed my Maths Exam because of that accursed niggling.

Surely it's "Thesauri", although I'm sure you were expecting someone to suggest this spelling and now have a wonderfully witty response to throw my way.
No, I don't, I just think that Latin words pluralise quite nicely using our native rules, there's no meaningful sense in which it's wrong to do it, and I prefer it that way because I think writing things like "thesauri" looks silly and pretentious when you're writing English.
Saves looking stupid by writing things like "virii" aswell.
Oh, I forgot to mention: I didn't have a wonderfully witty response, but I was expecting someone to suggest that.
"You raised my hopes and ashed them quite expertly. Bravo, sir!"
What word did you look up to find "manifold"?
